THOROLD ? Niagara Regional Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver after a 13-year-boy was struck by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle, Thursday evening.
The incident happened around 5:45 p.m.
According to police, the boy and a friend were riding the bicycles across the roadway at the east side of the Allanburg Bridge at Highway 20 and Centre Street, in Thorold.
A line of vehicles was stopped by a red light at the intersection.
That?s when a pickup truck ?suddenly? passed the line of traffic westbound toward the bridge and struck the boy?s bicycle, throwing him to the ground.
The boy sustained minor injuries, due in part to the fact he was wearing a helmet.
Witnesses described the pickup truck as a newer model, black Ford F-150, possiblly with an extended and ?notable? chrome detailing
The truck also had a theme license plate displaying a poppy.
