The College of Arts and Sciences and the Rabbi Meyer and Dorothy Kripke Center for the Study of Religion and Society present the Second Annual Religion and the Environment Lecture, ?Why Care for the Earth? Ten Good Reasons,? by Steven Bouma-Prediger on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. in the Skutt Student Center, Mutual of Omaha Ballroom. Bouma-Prediger is a professor of religion and director of the Environmental Studies Program at Hope College. He has written and edited several award winning books concerning ecology and theology, including For the Beauty of the Earth, Evocations of Grace: Writings on Ecology, Theology and Ethics and The Greening of Theology: The Ecological Models of Rosemary Radford Ruether, Joseph Sittler and Jurgen Moltmann. He regularly leads wilderness backpacking and canoeing trips for a course on ecological theology and ethics that he co-teaches in the Adirondacks in upstate New York.
